Luc Gilbert

Originally from Quebec City, Luc Gilbert began his studies at the Conservatoire de Musique de Québec before moving to Montreal to study composition at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal with Gilles Tremblay, Madeleine Martin, and Clermont Pépin. In 1978, Luc started working at Radio-Canada as a musician, keyboardist and arranger. He became a sought-after composer for television stations such as CBC, Radio-Canada, TVA, NBC, CTV and Quatre-Saisons. He conducted many recording sessions and produced albums for artists such as Roch Voisine, earning him Felix Awards for Director and Arranger of the Year. Luc has conducted orchestras worldwide, including the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, and recorded in cities like Rome, New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Las Vegas. He composed music for Sesame Street as well as for several television shows such as La Petite Vie. In 2001, he composed for the Sydney Olympics. Luc continues to compose for the National Arts Centre Orchestra, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, and the Montreal Symphony Orchestra. Luc also integrates electroacoustic music into his compositions and teaches lessons privately.
